Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, created in 2006 following the acquisition of Chiron, comprises two businesses: Novartis Vaccines and a Diagnostics business that retains the Chiron name. Novartis Vaccines is among the world's top vaccines business and the second-largest manufacturer of flu vaccines. The company, with its 1400 employees, is the only biotech manufacturer in Italy in this field and represents a solid reality of the Italian biopharmaceutical industry, thanks to its R&D and manufacturing activities carried out in its two sites in Siena and Rosia (SI), the scientific competences of its 250 scientists, and the high degree of technological innovation.
