Concetta De Santi
Concetta De Santi obtained her degree in Chemistry with specialisation in biochemistry and PhD degree in Industrial and Molecular Biotechnologies from University of Naples. She worked four years as post-doctoral fellow in the laboratories of Prof. Nils Peder Willassen at the “Norwegian Structural Biology Centre (NorStruct)” of Tromso (Norway), focusing her research activities on the microbial diversity in polar environments, at genomic and metagenomic level, and investigating their use as biocatalysts for industrial applications. She moved back to Italy (Siena) in 2017 to start working as scientist at Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) Vaccines within the Antigen Design and Identification group. She took actively part in genes cloning and proteins expression of several antigens of interest. Afterwards, she was involved in supporting NGS&OMICS facility activities aiming at genomic DNA libraries preparations and sequencing.
Recently, she joined the Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) in Siena, in the group led by Dr. Rino Rappuoli. Her main interests are in the fields of genomics, molecular biology and DNA sequencing technologies.
