Gaia Bartolini

In 2019, Gaia Bartolini obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Firenze under the supervision of Prof. Giovanna Danza. Her thesis internship was focused on the quantification of steroid hormones in follicular fluid of single oocytes as possible biomarkers of successful medically-assisted procreation. Subsequently, Gaia moved to the University of Bologna, where in 2022 she got her Master’s degree in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology, having completed her final year as a 6-month Erasmus trainee at the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. During her internship, at the section of System Biology under the supervision of Dr. Yun Chen, she performed a research project focusing on developing a yeast-based platform for producing medicinal flavonoids, such as naringenin and 8-prenylnaringenin, from renewable feedstocks such as glucose.

Since March 2023 Gaia has been working at the Tumour Immunology Unit under the supervision of Dr. Anna Kabanova. In 2024 she joined the multi-disciplinary team of the ArTCell project funded be the European Innovation Council aiming to develop on-demand artificial T cell substitute of traditional CAR T cell therapy.
